Catalog of Lyricist Larry Kusik Sold to Reservoir

Reservoir has announced a deal for the catalog of lyricist Larry Kusik, known for his contributions to songs included in blockbuster hits such as The Godfather, Romeo and Juliet, and Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Reservoir founder and CEO Golnar Khosrowshahi has shared excitement in the ability to “continue [Kusik’s] legacy and introduce these evergreen songs to new listeners.”

Lisa Alter recently spoke with Newsy about Kidz Bop, the brand known for child-friendly recreations of over 900 popular songs from prominent artists including Britney Spears, Elton John, and Lil Nas X. In the segment, Lisa explains that Kidz Bop is able to legally recreate and alter popular songs because they do not claim to be the original artists of their work, and they also pay all required fees to the original copyright holders of the songs.

Influence Media has acquired the rights to Puerto Rican songwriter-producer Marco Masis (Tainy)’s pre-2021 catalog. A four-time Grammy nominee and Latin Grammy winner, Tainy has contributed towards hits for Daddy Yankee, Cardi B, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and a number of other artists.

Primary Wave has acquired all rights of Regent Music Corporation and Jewel Music Publishing Co., Inc., the publishing catalogs founded by music publishing legends Gene Goodman and his late brother, Harry. The deals bring to Primary Wave songs including instrumentals such as surf classic “Pipeline”, works of jazz giants Lionel Hampton, Thelonious Monk, and Django Reinhardt (including “Minor Swing”), and the iconic Apache, one of the most sampled songs in hip hop.
