Ilanna Bavli’s practice at Alter, Kendrick & Baron focuses on copyright and transactional matters in the music industry, including copyright due diligence and drafting for music publishing acquisitions, as well as select artist representation matters. She draws on years of extensive entertainment transactional experience analyzing, drafting, and negotiating complex agreements respecting the acquisition and licensing of rights, as well as the production, financing, distribution, and marketing of film/TV content. She developed a particular expertise in examining and resolving complex chain-of-title and rights clearance issues. She also gained valuable experience managing due diligence on corporate M&A and financing transactions, overseeing film/TV music licensing matters, and drafting and negotiating motion picture composer and other music-related agreements. Her unique background includes advising on the protection of intellectual property assets, information security/data privacy, and investigative strategy as well.

Ilanna started out as a law clerk for Lisa Alter, Esq. prior to attending law school. She began her legal practice as an entertainment transactional associate at O’Melveny & Myers, followed by positions in the motion picture legal group at Paramount Pictures, as Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, as Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel at Summit Entertainment, and as a Vice President, Legal Affairs for Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. Inspired by her experiences at companies suffering high profile cyber attacks and content leaks, she left Sony to become a Vice President at the global risk consulting firm Stroz Friedberg, where she managed investigative, information security/data privacy, and forensics matters. She then launched her own company, Eleven/11 Counsel & Strategy, through which she consults on similar matters, with a particular specialty in entertainment content protection/security, investigations, and data privacy strategic consulting.
