Influence Media has announced the creation of two new joint ventures with DJ Khaled, involving We The Best Music Group, the record label, publisher and production company he founded. The deal also involves the acquisition of the recording and publishing rights to DJ Khaled’s catalog in partnership with We The Best.

The firm is pleased to announce that Lisa Alter and Katie Baron have been named to Billboard’s 2025 Top Music Lawyers list. The annual list recognizes the attorneys shaping the business of music across dealmaking, rights, management, and artist representation.

Primary Wave announced that it partnered with The Notorious B.I.G.‘s estate to acquire a stake in the Brooklyn rapper’s music publishing and recordings, as well as certain name, image and likeness rights. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Primary Wave Music has signed a new marketing and publishing administration agreement with Grammy-winning songwriter and performer Jimmy Webb. Under the deal, Primary Wave will represent Webb’s extensive music publishing catalog and collaborate with him on branding, marketing, and sync opportunities. The agreement includes some of Webb’s biggest hits, such as Wichita Lineman, MacArthur Park, and Up, Up and Away.
Influence Media Partners has confirmed that it has secured approximately $360 million in debt financing through an inaugural private securitization, collateralized by music royalties from its portfolio of music rights. Influence Media has invested in several music catalogs to date from Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated artists. Amongst those deals are with artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Blake Shelton, Julia Michaels, Tyler Johnson, Logic, Ali Tamposi, Future and more.

Before joining AKB, Julia began her legal career at Clifford Chance, where she practiced in the firm’s corporate department. She later joined ArentFox Schiff as a music transactions and copyright associate, honing her skills in music catalog sales and copyright terminations.

At AKB, Julia joins a collective advising on major music acquisition deals involving catalogs such as those of Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Enrique Iglesias, James Brown, Future, Bob Marley, Peter Frampton, and Whitney Houston at a firm that negotiated and closed over $1 billion in deals during the past eighteen months.

She graduated summa cum laude from New York University with a B.A. in philosophy in 2017.
