Madison Smiley’s practice is focused in the area of complex music transactions, including the acquisition, sale and securitization of composition and recording catalogs, with an emphasis on copyright law issues.
Before joining Alter, Kendrick & Baron, Madison began her legal career at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where she practiced in the finance group of the firm’s corporate department and gained experience in negotiating and drafting transaction documents.
Madison received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, with a certificate in Intellectual Property, Media and Information Law. She was a member of the Brooklyn Law Review and held legal internships at various entertainment law firms, ASCAP, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York while in law school.
Madison graduated summa cum laude from Belmont University in 2018 with a B.B.A. in Music Business.
